The Truth Behind The Britney Spears Intervention Rumours

This girl can't catch a break!

Britney Spears' conservatorship may have ended in November 2021 but it hasn't stopped everyone from continuing to talk about her mental health. There's been a lot going on in the world of Britney in the last week so let's break it down.

Earlier in the week, TMZ reported that Brit's family and friends were planning an intervention for her due to substance abuse issues. The outlet claimed she had stopped taking her meds that stabilised her and was instead taking medications that "hype her up" and caused her to "fly off the handles" according to a source.

The outlet claims the plan was for her manager, her husband Sam Asghari and an interventionist to take her to a rented home where she would stay for two months to receive "medical treatment and psychological counselling."

Unless you've been living under a rock, you'd know that Britney is STILL traumatised from her team committing her to an abusive mental health facility in 2019 so this "plan" definitely didn't sound like a good idea. Knowing this information, I automatically don't believe this "source" because there's no way her husband would force her into this knowing her past trauma.

Before the intervention could take place TMZ claims Britney found out about their plan and it was scrapped altogether. Apparently, Brit did meet with a doctor instead and everything went well.

Following the article, Page Six got involved. Their sources claimed the real reason the intervention didn't go ahead was that it was “unnecessary" and said not to believe the stories coming out about Brit in the media, the source shared:

“Unfortunately, there is a lot of hysteria in the media right now, but Britney is fine, and much of this has been overblown and grossly distorted."

After all these reports started swirling, Britney, of course, took to her Instagram to shut down the rumours and roast everyone in the process. In a lengthy caption, the singer said "It makes me sick to my stomach that it's even legal for people to make up stories that I almost died .. I mean at some point enough is enough" while also reminding everyone that it's 2023, not 2007 all over again.

That wasn't all. A few days later Brit also posted a video of herself making fun of all the rumours that she was, in the words of Lisa Rinna, close to death.

Some people think the video is "shocking" but I think Brit's just being silly and trying to shut down the haters. What else can she do?

In the caption of the video, Britney clarified that not only does she not have a management team but that the only "medication" she takes is Prozac. She said it frustrates her that all her personal efforts to get better can be undermined by the media publishing fake stories about her.

Honestly, this woman can't catch a break. Yes, her Instagram is weird and she evidently does have some mental health issues, however, she doesn't need the whole world talking and reporting fake news about them as it could have serious ramifications on her life.

The media were the core reason for her entering the conservatorship, to begin with, and after TMZ posted not only the intervention article but also a fake video of her "speaking gibberish" last month it seems like their goal is to get her back in one. Are they on Jamie Spears' payroll or what?

Brit's husband, Sam, also released a statement to Access Hollywood, and while he didn't deny an intervention was ever supposed to take place he simply said it didn't occur and wants speculation around his wife's health to stop. The model-turned-actor said:

“An intervention did not occur. My wife is in full control of her life and will continue to make all decisions involving her care regardless of circumstances. Speculation on her health is inappropriate and should end immediately."

Finally, in the last piece of Britney news for the week, Page Six published an article with a "source" who claims that Brit's "mental problems" are far more severe than the public would realise. However, they said it still doesn't mean she should be under a conservatorship. The source shared:

“Nobody outside the very small conservatorship circle knows what Britney’s medical status really is. If people knew Britney’s actual medical status, I think it would reveal that her mental problems are far more severe than people realize. Regardless of her mental condition, it isn’t necessarily appropriate for her to be under a conservatorship. There are less harsh ways to handle it.”

At this point, Britney's mental health is none of our business but her Instagram and messy media outlets are always giving us something to talk about. I hope she's fine and if she's not, I hope she gets the help she needs.

Although there were several documentaries about how the star was unfairly treated by the media back in the early 2000s, it seems like TMZ and other outlets are reverting right back to how they used to be which sadly shows that Brit's still the pop culture pinata she's always been. #JusticeForBritney
